Meet Courtney Oliver – Ten Year Old Veterinarian

Courtney Oliver may be only 10-years-old but that hasn’t stopped her from living her dream. Oliver says she has always wanted to be a veterinarian, so she decided to get her veterinary assistant certification.

After 8 months, Oliver had completed an on-line college course and is now working at the South Bay Veterinary Hospital in Olympia.

Hayden Panettiere Fights Japan’s Whaling Atrocities In D.C.

Actress Hayden Panettiere, who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet on NBC’s hit series Heroes, will lead a rally against a resumption of commercial whaling at 1 p.m. this Sunday, January 27, in Washington, D.C.’s Dupont Circle.

“Whales face increasing threats from climate change, ship strikes, entanglement in nets, and chemical and noise pollution, yet Japan, Norway and Iceland continue to kill them in increasing numbers,” Panettiere said. “I am looking forward to talking with officials who actually make and carry out our policies, as well as fellow young people who will be voting in the upcoming election — I want our voice to be heard.” Continue reading ›

Violence Is A Natural High

New research on mice shows the brain processes aggressive behavior as it does other rewards. Mice sought violence, in fact, picking fights for no apparent reason other than the rewarding feeling.

The mouse brain is thought to be analogous to the human brain in this study, which could shed light on our fascination with brutal sports as well as our own penchant for the classic bar brawl.

Buckshot, Katie and Obu-Jet Inherit $800,000

They’re not as loaded as Leona Helmsley’s pooch, but three Maryland canines are plenty rich enough to live high on the dog.

The dogs – named Buckshot, Katie and Obu-Jet – inherited $400,000 and a house in Hagerstown with the death last year of owner Ken Kemper. Altogether, their estate is worth about $800,000.
